L.A. Avengers lend hand to 'Operation Home Front'

LOS ANGELES -- As they prepare for one of the largest crowds in team history, the Los Angeles Avengers have agreed to donate 50 percent of the revenue from all remaining upper level tickets sold for Sunday's Arena Football League game at STAPLES Center to KFI AM 640's "Operation Home Front."
The game, which kicks off at noon (Pacific), pits the league-leading Avengers (8-2) versus the Arizona Rattlers (5-5), who are one of their chief Western Division rivals.
"Operation Home Front" is a 501c3 organization that is committed to helping our service men and women and their families in time of need. It is helping raise funds for the relief societies that give these families emergency financial aid in the form of interest free loans and donations. All proceeds from "Operation Home Front" are divided equally between the Army, Navy-Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard.
In addition, Avenger fans can drop off checks at the KFI AM 640 and XTRA Sports 690 & 1150 radio booth in Star Plaza prior to the game. Donations are tax deductible and also can be sent to: "Operation Home Front," KFI AM 640, 610 South Ardmore Ave., Los Angeles, Calif. 90005.
"Along with the rest of the country, the Avenger organization is eager to show its support for the brave men and women of our armed forces," said Avenger president and chief operating officer Todd Merkow. "We have a deep appreciation for the work they've done and the sacrifices made overseas and here at home. Hopefully we can lend a hand and raise a good amount of money to provide some assistance."
Another promotion on Sunday calls for the first 5,000 fans through the gates at STAPLES Center to receive a bobblehead doll depicting an "A-Team" dancer, compliments of Carl's Jr. The giveaway is believed to be the first-ever bobblehead doll honoring a dance team.
Tickets are going fast, but are still available at all Ticketmaster outlets and the STAPLES Center box office, which is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Monday through Saturday). Tickets also may be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (213) 480-3232 or logging onto its official website at www.ticketmaster.com.
