Today's Game - The Buffalo Bisons play a second straight non-divisional series, hosting the Columbus Clippers. Buffalo stands 2-1 on the five game, weather-shortened homestand.

That was last night - Mike Ohlman smashed a two run homer in the first and set the tone for Buffalo's 9-3 win Friday Night. Christian Lopes, Gregorio Petit and Jason Leblebijian each had two hits. Chad Girodo tossed scoreless ball over the final three innings to pick up his second save of the year. The 3:34 game time was the longest of the season, while only spanning 8.5 innings.

Living high on the hog - Making his first start of the season, Mike Bolsinger fanned the first four Columbus hitters he faced Friday night. The righty finished three frames allowing just one hit, with 5K, 2BB. Prior to the outing, he worked a pair of 'piggyback' stints from the Bisons pen. He made six starts with the Bisons last season (25.1IP, 19R, 17ER, 27K).

Quite the Krew - For the third straight game Bisons pitchers combined to fan 10 batters. This marks the sixth time in 13 games the pitching staff racked up a double-digit strikeout total this season. Buffalo accomplished the feat three times in four games facing Rochester, included a season-high 15 on April 12. Four times this season a Bisons starter has punched out seven batters alone.

That top 10 hit - All ten Bisons batters collected at least one hit on Friday night. Shane Opitz entered in the 6th as a PR and doubled the next inning, in his only AB of the night.

Capitalizing RISP - After driving home 5 of 9 runs with two outs in Friday's win the Bisons bolstered their club average with RISP/2 outs to a scorching .390 (23-59) average. Dwight Smith Jr. is 5-8, producing 8 of 11 RBI with RISP/2 outs. Overall, the Herd is hitting .337 with RISP with Leblebijian and Smith Jr each 6-12 af the plate.

Teeing up a series - The Bisons win over Columbus gives the Herd wins in all five series openers. Buffalo has won or split each series this season.

Clippers in choppy water - Since 2010 the Bisons are 33-20 against the Clippers. Friday's 9-3 win gives the Herd a 12-12 mark in games decided by more than four runs and an impressive 21-8 record in games decided by three or less.

How the west was won - The Bisons won 8 of 9 going back to the last series in 2015 with Columbus. Last year, Buffalo was victorious in 19 of the 25 games played against the IL-West, including a 10-2 road record last year. Conversely, went 9-17 against the southern division.

Tuning in W-I-N-S - With the Bisons 9-3 win Friday, that is 8 of 9 wins scoring four or more runs. Wednesday night the Bisons took their first loss of the season plating four or more runs, in the 9-5 setback vs. Norfolk.

Recent roster action - Friday Mat Latos was selected by Toronto and to clear room on the 40-man roster, UTL Ty Kelly was designated for assignment.
