After a postponement last night, the IronPigs (7-7) continue their homestand with a doubleheader to start a three-game series against the West Division leading Toledo Mud Hens (8-5) at Coca-Cola Park... With a 4-2 victory on Thursday, the Pigs won the final two games of a three-game set against Columbus to take their second straight series. As a result, Lehigh Valley has started 2-1 on this six-game homestand... The Mud Hens -- Detroit's top affiliate -- lost Game 1 of a doubleheader in Syracuse in Thursday, 1-0, before Game 2 was rained out. The Hens were swept in the rain-shortened series, 2-0, at NBT Bank Stadium after winning three in a row and eight of their last nine affairs -- including a season-high, five-game winning streak from April 8-12.
In Game 1, RHP Mark Appel (0-1, 8.22) will start for LHV against RHP Drew VerHagen (1-0, 1.80).
In Game 2, RHP Ben Lively (1-1, 4.09) will start for LHV against RHP William Cuevas (1-0, 2.45).
Tonight is an Apron Giveaway (Bacon & Eggs Night), presented by Hatfield Meats... First pitch of game 1 is at 5:35 p.m.
With a win in Game 1 tonight, the Pigs will go above .500 for the first time this season as well as record their first three-game winning streak of 2017.
