The Syracuse Chiefs collected their fifth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon in a 9-4 victory over the Norfolk Tides. Every Chiefs position player picked up at least one hit in the game, with Caleb Ramsey leading the way with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Norfolk (5-10) got things going right away in the first inning. Designated hitter Henry Urrutia led off the first inning with a double down the left-field line off of Syracuse (7-7) starter Taylor Hill. He came into score four batters later when second baseman Robert Andino singled to right field, putting Norfolk up 1-0.

The Chiefs responded in the bottom half of the inning. Center fielder Brian Goodwin started the rally with a walk from Norfolk starter Tyler Wilson. He stole second in the next at-bat where first baseman Clint Robinson singled to center field, but Goodwin was thrown out at home. After a Brandon Snyder single and a Matt Skole walk loaded the bases, Robinson scored on a wild pitch from Wilson, tying the game at one run apiece.

Syracuse fell victim to another play at the plate in the bottom of the second inning as Ramsey tried to score on an infield hit from Irving Falu, but third baseman Drew Dosch threw Ramsey out at home. The Chiefs, however, made up for it later in the inning. Rafael Bautista singled into right field, advancing Falu to third on the play. The next at-bat saw Goodwin double off the glove of Norfolk left fielder Michael Choice, which scored both Falu and Bautista, putting the Chiefs up by two. In the next at-bat, Robinson collected his second hit of the game on a single to center field, as Goodwin came in to score from second base, putting Syracuse up 4-1.

Norfolk cut the lead to just two in the top of the third inning. After Hill retired the first two Tides of the inning, Robert Andino singled deep in the shortstop hole and came in to score on the next play, a deep fly-ball double from Chance Sisco.

Zach Stewart came in to relieve Wilson in the bottom of the fifth inning and the right-hander quickly lost control. After retiring Goodwin to start the inning, Stewart walked Robinson, hit Snyder with a pitch, and allowed a single to Skole, loading the bases for the Chiefs. The Tides reliever then plunked Jhonatan Solano to bring in Robinson from third. With the bases still loaded, Ramsey roped his second double of the day over the head of the right fielder Alvarez, scoring another pair of runs and putting Syracuse up 7-2.

The Tides slashed the lead in half in the top of the seventh. Dosch singled to center field off of Chiefs reliever Mike Broadway, plating Paul Janish. Neal Cotts came in to relieve Broadway and gave up a sacrifice fly to Robert Andino, scoring Urrutia, making the score 7-4 in favor of the Chiefs.

The Chiefs weren't done either, though. In the bottom half of the inning, Solano and Ramsey singled off of Damien Magnifico. A batter later, Sanchez signled to right field and an Alvarez fielding error plated Solano and moved Ramsey to second. Next, Falu singled to center as Ramsey came around to score and put Syracuse up 9-4.

The Chiefs and Tides finish up their three-game set on Sunday afternoon at 1:05. A.J. Cole is set to take the mound for Syracuse opposite Gabriel Ynoa for Norfolk.
