Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, defeated the Allen Americans 3-1.
The Laredo Bucks travelled to the Allen Event Center to face the Allen Americans Saturday night. The Bucks wasted no time in taking a 1-0 lead at 1:43 in the first. A.J. Hau stole the puck and scored an unassisted breakaway goal to put the Bucks on the board. Late in the period, Matt Boyd deflected the puck into the net at 18:38 to give the Bucks a 2-0 lead. Rusty Masters and Adam Rivet were there for the assists. Ryan Rondeau made several key saves in the period to keep it scoreless for the Americans. The Bucks were outshot by the American 10-12 in the period.
The Bucks played tough in front of their net throughout the second period. Ryan Rondeau continued to dominate in the crease. The Bucks were able to light the lamp with 1:30 left in the second. As time had expired on the Rusty Masters slashing penalty, the Bucks were able to give him the puck as he exited the box. This led to an odd-man rush for Laredo, where Rusty Masters was able to bury the puck. Joseph Harcharik and Ryan Sparling assisted on the goal that gave the Bucks a 3-0 lead.
The Bucks spent most of the third period on the penalty kill. The Americans were able to take advantage of a five on three at 10:37 when Jason Deitsch scored. The Bucks again were down two men with less than four minutes left in the game, but were able to withstand the Americans attack. Allen outshot Laredo 39-23 in the game, but Ryan Rondeau was able to bring home the win for the Bucks.
The Laredo Bucks are now on a six game roadtrip. They will face the Missouri Mavericks in Independence, Missouri on Tuesday, December 20th and Friday, December 23rd. The Bucks next home game will be Saturday January 7th at 7:30pm, when they face the Americans at the LEA.
