Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
WICHITA, Kan.- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (10-10-4) were shutout by the Wichita Thunder (16-7-0) by 3-0 score on Saturday night. The shutout was the first against the Bees this season. John Murray made 24 on 27 shots. All three Wichita goals were scored on odd-man rushes.
Wichita took the first lead of the game just 2:00 into the affair as Aaron David came in on a two-on-one and beat Killer Bees goalie John Murray with a shot high glove side. Brett Hemingway and Andrew Martens were credited with the assists.
Wichita extend their lead to two goals at the 9:00 minute mark of the second as Alex Bourret and Thomas Beauregard came in on a two-on-none after a bad change by the Bees. Bourret fed the puck across to Beauregard to hit the back of the net.
Through two periods the Bees had 15 shots on net that were turned away by Wichita goalie Adam Russo.
Wichita added their third goal of the game on another odd man rush, this time a breakaway for Thomas Beauregard who scored the goal, his second of the game.
The Killer Bees losing streak is now extended to eight games. The Bees travel to Allen to face the Americans Sunday afternoon at 5:05 p.m. Fans can follow the game on 956sports.com and CHL-TV.
