Bucks Look To Sting Bees Tuesday At LEC

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will look to win their third straight game Tuesday night as they host division rival Rio Grande Valley at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Game time is set for 7pm. Family four pack tickets are available (four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas for $48) by calling 718-BUCK (2825). The Bucks are tied with Youngstown atop the CHL with 27 points.

The Bucks (7-1 at home) will be looking to win their third straight game Tuesday when they host Rio. The Bucks just swept a weekend series with New Mexico, winning 3-2 on Friday night, and 5-2 on Saturday evening. Jeff Bes scored two goals and handed out an assist in the two Bucks wins, while Dustin Traylen stopped 73 of 77 Scorpions shots combined in the two-game sweep.

Forward Jeff Genovy saw his first game action of the season against the Scorpions last weekend, scoring the winning goal, while handing out an assist in Saturday's win. Genovy missed the first 15 games of the season recovering from an injury.

The Bucks are 3-0 against the Bees this season, winning 5-1 and 3-2 (OT) at home, while winning at the Dodge Arena 4-2. The two teams will meet 13 times this season.

Bes (14-18-32) is tied for the CHL lead in scoring with Rocky Mountain's Scott Wray with 32 points. Bes leads the CHL in goals scored with 14, while Chris Korchinski is tied for eighth in the league with 23 points.

Since Rio Grande Valley's 3-2 overtime loss to Laredo on November 13th , the Bees have won four of their last five games, but have lost their last seven regular season games at the LEC.

The Killer Bees are led in scoring by Dennis Maxwell (7-13=20), with two players with collecting 17 points, Travis Banga (5-12=17), and Rob Voltera (8-9=17).

The Bucks and Bees will meet again this Friday at the Dodge Arena.

The Bucks will honor 200 soldiers from Laredo's 436th Chemical Company from the Texas Army National Guard on Tuesday. The soliers will be deployed to Afghanistan on Thursday.

The Bucks will have the 200 soliders and their families attend the game and participate during the pre-game activities. The soldiers will be presenting the colors, sitting on the Bucks bench during warm-ups, and dropping the first puck.

Earlier Tuesday morning at 10am, the City of Laredo will have a send off ceremony at Shirley Field for the 200 soldiers, which represent the largest number of deployed troops ever from Laredo. Members of the Bucks staff will attend the send off ceremony.
