Oakley CHL Player/Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 25th, 2007 are center Tyler Redenbach of the Arizona Sundogs and goaltender John DeCaro of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
Redenbach finished the perfect week for the Sundogs (3-0) with three goals and five assists and a +3 plus/minus rating. The Regina, Saskatchewan native has a point in every contest this season (CHL season-long 14-game point streak) and has recorded nine multiple-point efforts in of his 14 games played. On Wednesday, the 6-0, 195-pound forward had three assists in a 4-2 Sundogs win. He followed that up with a shorthanded goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over Austin on Friday and had two goals and one assist in an 8-3 victory over the Ice Bats on Saturday. The former third round selection of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2003 NHL Draft currently ranks third in the CHL with 29 points and leads the league with 23 assists.
DeCaro posted a pair of victories last week including a 2-1 win at home versus Corpus Christi on November 20th and a 4-2 road victory on November 24th against one of the CHL's top teams, the Youngstown SteelHounds. In the two games, the Marysville, Washington native turned away 50 of 53 shots (.943). The 6-3, 217-pound goaltender has won five straight games after starting the season 0-3-1. During his personal five-game win streak, DeCaro has allowed just four goals and has stopped 97 percent of the shots he has faced. For the season, the 2006-07 Scott Brower Award Winner (Most Outstanding Goaltender) is 5-3-1 with a 1.88 goals against average (third in the CHL) and a .930 save percentage (second in the CHL).
In recognition of their achievements, both Redenbach and DeCaro will receive a special gift from Oakley.
