2007-08: Bucks trail series 0-2
The Bucks come into tonight's game still needing a combination of three points to clinch the number one seed in the Southern Conference playoffs. A win tonight would decrease Laredo's magic number to one point.
Last night the Bucks fell to the 'Hounds 3-2, giving up one goal in each period. Peter Pohl knocked in the game winner at the 9:17 mark of the third period for Youngstown.
The Bucks came into the game with the number one penalty killing unit in the league, but gave up two power-play goals to Youngstown, to drop Laredo to second in the league on the PK.
Jeff Bes picked up a goal and an assist in the loss to put him at 102 points for the season. Bes (44-58=102) is now nine points back of Arizona's Alex Leavitt (34-77=111) in the CHL scoring race. Leavitt had four points last night for the Sundogs.
Bes' next goal will tie him with former line mate Chris Grenville in the Bucks record books, for most goals in a season (45).
James Hiebert is expected to be in the line up tonight, he did not play Friday night because of an injury he suffered before the game. If Hiebert does play he will be on a line with Bes and Chris Stanley. Stanley scored in his Laredo debut last night.
The Bucks have struggled against the North this season, going just 6-8-1.
At the end of the game last night Youngstown moved up to the third spot in the Northern Conference playoff race, but by the end of the night were back in fifth place thanks to Texas' win over Bossier-Shreveport.
Not only are the Steelhounds one point ahead of Mississippi for the final playoff spot in the North, their 35 wins ties a franchise record for most wins in a season.
