
Bucks Fall Again In Youngstown 3-1

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League lost to the Youngstown Steelhounds 3-1 Saturday night, in front of 3,718 fans at the Chevrelet Centre.
The loss was the Bucks second straight to the Steelhounds, to drop their overall record to 39-20-3 (81 points). Laredo's magic number to clinch the number one seed in the Southern Conference playoffs remains at three as of press time.
Steelhounds goaltender Andy Franck stopped 25 of 26 Bucks shots to pick up the win in net. Franck is now 3-0 against Laredo this season.
The Bucks (16-12-2 on the road) fell behind very early in the hockey game as the Steelhounds scored just 1:29 into the first period. Joel Irving took the puck in the right corner of the Bucks end, and scored on a wrap around past Bucks goaltender John Ceci. Irving jammed the puck in to the right of Ceci. The goal was Irving's 24th goal of the season.
Youngstown took a 2-0 lead at the 12:43 mark, when Mark Odut took a pass at the high left slot from Brad Patterson and sent a slap shot past Ceci. It was Odut's 13th tally of the year.
The Bucks were outshot in the opening period eight to seven, with Laredo coming up empty on two power-plays in first 20 minutes.
Laredo cut the Youngstown lead in half to 2-1 6:13 into the second period. Andrew Desjardins took the puck down the right wing side, and sent a wrister from the bottom of the right circle past Youngstown goaltender Andy Franck. It was Desjardins 22nd tally of the season, with Matt Summers and Derek Legault picking up assists.
The Bucks outshot the Steelhounds in the second period nine-to-seven. Laredo was 0-for-three with the man advantage in the second period.
Youngstown (36-19-5, 77 points) made it 3-1 just 1:37 into the third perid when Jason Baird took a loose puck in front of the Bucks net, and sent it past Ceci.
Ceci fell to 6-7 in net for the Bucks as he stopped 21 of 24 Steelhounds attempts.
The Bucks and Steelhounds will finish up their three game set Sunday afternoon at 3:05pm. The team will fly back to Laredo Monday afternoon, and but will not have ice to practice until Thursday afternoon because of an event at the LEC.

**Bucks Playoff Schedule**
The Bucks are scheduled to open the 2008 Playoffs at the LEC on Saturday March 29th at 7:30pm, with game two of that series on Monday March 31st at 7:00pm. The official playoff schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
