Bucks Get Shootout Win Over Bees

HIDALGO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Saturday night 4-3 in a shootout Saturday night at State Farm Arena. The Bucks picked up their first win of the season as they improve to 1-1 (2 points) while the Bees fall to 1-0-1 (3 points).

Ryan Lehr scored the game-winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout and Pier Pelletier stopped four of six Bees attempts to get the win in net. Pelletier stopped 25 of 28 shots in the game while Juliano Pagliero set aside 20 of 23 Bucks attempts.

Daniel Koger scored two goals while Serge Dube and Neil Trimm picked up two assists each to lead the Bucks.

Jeff Bes picked up an assist to move to within seven points of 1,000 in his career.

The Bees scored with just 1:09 left in the first period to take a 1-0 lead for the second straight night. Brett Wilson deflected a shot in from the right side of the crease to pot his first goal of the season.

The Bucks had a chance to strike midway through the first but could not capitalize on a 57 second five-on-three power-play.

The Bucks were outshot in the first period 9-6.

Laredo tied the game at 1-1 just 1:45 into the second period when Daniel Koger hammered home a one-timer from the slot to score his first goal in North America.

The Bucks would take a 2-1 lead 6:05 into the second when Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel scored a power-play marker on a long rebound from the left circle. The goal was Dieude-Fauvel's first of the season.

The Killer Bees would tie the game at 2-2 less than two minutes later when Tomas Klempa rifled home a one-timer from the right circle on the power-play to tally his first of the campaign. Klempa had three assists in the season opener Friday.

The Bucks would jump back in front with 8:31 left in the second period when they struck for a five-on-three power-play goal. Koger scored on a laser one-timer from the slot to pick up his second goal of the game.

Laredo outshot Rio in the second period 8-7.

Dan Gendur tied the game at 3-3 just 6:42 into the third period as he picked up his first goal in a Bees jersey. The Bees outshot the Bucks 12-6 in the third period as well as for the game 28-24.

A couple of Bucks' reached milestones Saturday night as Bes played in his 400th CHL game and Hans Benson played in his 300th career game.

Bucks' rookie forward Joe Scali was a scratch due to an upper-body injury he suffered in Friday's game.
