Bucks Fall To Sundogs 7-3

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Arizona Sundogs 7-3 Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The loss snapped the Bucks three-game winning streak, as they fall to 31-19-4 (66pts). The Bucks magic number to clinch a playoff spot remains at two points.

Darryl Smith scored two goals and added an assist in a losing cause for Laredo. Smith leads the CHL with 34 goals.

The Sundogs (24-28-4, 52pts) jumped all over the Bucks in the first period as they took a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Jon Landry put the Sundogs up 1-0 when he sent a power-play goal in from the point 4:54 into the game.

Matt Suderman put Arizona up 2-0 when he sent a laser slap shot from the left point into the back of the net at the 6:56 mark.

Dwayne Hay made it 3-0 Arizona went he scored off of a wrist shot from the left circle with 2:18 left in the first period.

The Bucks outshot the Sundogs in the first period 13-11.

Laredo (20-7-1 at home) would cut the Sundogs lead to 3-1 when Alex Goupil picked up a loose puck behind the Sundogs net and knocked the puck past Marco Emond. Goupil has scored a goal in three straight games to increase his season total to 22.

Arizona would up their lead to 4-1 when they scored a short-handed tally. Adam Perry scored a rebound tally from the right side of the crease.

The Sundogs would increase their lead to 5-1 on the power-play when Mark Kolanos scored on a two-on-one break from the right side of the crease.

The Bucks would cut the Sundogs lead to 5-2 when Darryl Smith took a drop pass from Brent Cullaton in the slot and sent a wrist shot past Emond.

Laredo outshot Arizona 18-8 in the second period.

Perry scored his second goal of the game when he scored a wrister from the slot.

Arizona went 2-1-1 on their four-game road trip to South Texas.

Smith scored his second goal of the game, and his 34th of the season when he hammered in a shot from the right side of the crease.

A.J MacLean added an empty net goal with just 47 seconds left in the third.

The Bucks outshot the Sundogs 46-22 in the loss.

Emond stopped 43 of 46 Bucks shots in picking up the win, while Centomo set aside 13 of 19 shots to take the loss.

Despite the loss the Bucks win the regular season series against the Sundogs 4-1.
