
Bucks Fall To Rage In Shootout 3-2

BROOMFIELD, CO- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Rocky Mountain Rage 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night at the Broomfield Event Center. With the loss the Bucks fall to 18-8-2, but pick up a point to remain in front of Texas in the Southeast Division. Laredo is now winless in their last three games, going 0-2-1.
The Rage won the shootout 3-1, with Former Bucks Captain Brent Cullaton picked up the game-winner against his former team.
Rocky Mountain tied the game at 2-2 just 6:55 into the third, when Mike Bulawka picked up a loose puck in front of the Laredo net and jammed a shot past Ryan Gibb.
The Bucks are now winless in their last five road games, going 0-3-2.
Gibb stopped 27 of 29 shots in net, to fall to 7-1-2 this season.
Marty Magers set aside 24 of 26 Bucks shots to pick up the win for the Rage.
The Rage (12-13-2) jumped out in front of the Bucks 7:38 into the first period. Colt King found David Morelli behind the Laredo defense, with Morelli beating Ryan Gibb one-on-one to make it 1-0.
The Bucks (5-5-2 on the road) would tie the game at 1-1 at the 10:48 mark of the first, when Rick Kozak took a drop pass from Darryl Smith in the high slot and whipped a shot past Marty Magers. The strike was Kozak's 10th of the year, with Smith (19) and Jeff Bes (34) picking up assists.
The Bucks were outshot in the first 20 minutes 13-10.
Laredo would take a 2-1 lead 7:30 into the second, when Steve Weidlich skated down to the high slot and found Jason Dixon at the left circle to bang it home. The tally was Dixon's eighth of the year, and his second in as many games. Weidlich picked up his fourth helper of the season.
The Bucks were outshot for the second straight period, this time by a count of 8-7.
Laredo and Rocky Mountain will meet for the re-match on Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm CST.
