Bucks' Comeback Falls Short

Laredo Bucks News Release


LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fall to the Texas Brahmas Saturday night 4-3.

The Laredo Bucks and Texas Brahmas met for the first time in the 2011-2012 season Saturday night at the Laredo Energy Arena. The Brahmas were the first to strike when Jim Burichin scored at 2:33 in the first period. At the 5:36 mark, TJ Fox would give the Brahmas a 2-0 lead. Justin Styffe dropped the gloves versus Erik Spady at 6:07 to give the Bucks bench the boost it needed. The Bucks were given their first powerplay of the evening when Jordan Kary was called for slashing at 15:43. The Bucks only had 17 seconds left on the powerplay when Kyle Mariani lit the lamp from the top of the circle, making the score 2-1. He was assisted by Matt Boyd and Jason Reese.

The Bucks and Brahmas battled the first half of the second period, until Adam Hogg scored a powerplay goal at 10:02. This would give the Brahmas a 3-1 lead. Matt Hanson would cut the Brahma lead to one when he scored at the 11:00 mark. Once again, Jason Reese and Matt Boyd would earn assists on the goal. The Brahmas would make it a two goal game when Brendon Hodge found the net at 12:48, making the score 4-2.

The Laredo Bucks would play a tough third period. Matt Boyd scored a late goal in the third period, at 17:19, closing the gap to 4-3. He was assisted by Matt Rigtrup. The Bucks would pull Torrie Jung with almost 2 minutes left in the game, but were unable to score with the man advantage.

The Laredo Bucks now look ahead as they will face the Arizona Sundogs on Wednesday, November 9th, at 7pm. Bucks fans can purchase 4 tickets, 4 sodas and 4 hotdogs for ONLY $48.
