Bucks Collar Sundogs, Win 5-2

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Arizona Sundogs 5-2 Saturday night, in front of 3,356 fans at Tim's Toyota Center. The Bucks swept the two-game series in Arizona, and maintain first place in the Southeast Division with a 12-5 record (24pts). Laredo has won seven of their last eight games.

Ryan Gibb won his fifth straight start for the Bucks, and his second in as many nights as he set aside 31 of 33 Sundogs shots.

The Bucks would carry the momentum from Friday night's win into Saturday's first period, as they struck for three goals in the first 20 minutes.

Laredo would jump on top 1-0 just 44 seconds in, when Igor Agarunov took a feed from Bobby Russell, and snapped a shot past Sundogs goaltender Joel Gistedt. The tally was Agarunov's fourth of the season.

The Bucks would make it 2-0 as they scored via the power-play, 11:34 into the first. Serge Dube took a laser feed from Jeff Bes and poked in a shot from the left side of the crease past Gistedt. The strike was Dube's fifth of the year, with Bes extending his CHL-high point streak to 15 games while picking up assist number 25. Darryl Smith also had an assist on Dube's goal.

Laredo would increase their lead to 3-0 with just 1:34 left in the opening period. Bes found a wide open Joey Olson, who was just exiting the penalty box. Olson then had a break-away and shot if five-hole past Gistedt for his first goal of the year.

The Bucks were outshot in the first period 9-6.

Laredo would increase their lead to 4-0 as they scored their second power-play goal of the night 6:18 into the second period.

Devin Featherstone scored his second power-play goal of the year, as he sent a laser shot from the left circle past Gistedt. Jason Dixon and Alex Goupil each picked up assist number 11 on the campaign.

The second period saw some physical play, as Rick Kozak and Matt Suderman each received a game misconduct at the 9:14 mark.

The Bucks would outshoot the Sundogs in the second 10-8.

Darryl Smith would give the Bucks a 5-0 lead when he scored a wrap around backhander 11:50 into the third period. Smith took the team lead in goals with 11.

Arizona would make it interesting, as Mark Kolanos and Adam Perry would score 33 seconds apart in the third to make it 5-2 Laredo.

Gistedt took his second straight loss to Laredo, as he set aside 23 of 28 Bucks shots.

Laredo was outshot by Arizona 33-28.

The Bucks will make the 18-hour trek by bus back to Laredo after the game.

The Bucks will return home December 4-5, when they host Rio Grande Valley and Arizona.
