Valley Center, Kan. - Evan Rankin scored the game-winner with 20 seconds remaining in regulation as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees defeated the Wichita Thunder 4-3 to snap a three-game losing skid Saturday night at the Kansas Coliseum.

Nic Dumoulin scored twice for the Bees, both on the power play, while Wylie Rogers made 40 saves for the win. Bryan Nathe scored a pair of power play goals for Wichita.

RGV took a 2-0 lead into th second period on goals by Daryl Moore and Nic Dumoulin. Wichita knotted things up with a pair of second period goals by Jason Duda and Bryan Nathe, but the Bees regained the lead on Dumoulin's second goal of the night with 33 seconds remaining in the middle stanza.

Nathe bagged his second goal of the night 1:53 into the third period to tie things at 3-3, but Rankin redirected the puck past Thunder goalieTim Boron for the game-winner and his fourth goal of the season.

Rio's Trevor Weisgerber collected a pair of assists in the game but did not finish after being knocked unconcious with 2:54 remaining in regulation.

The Bees start a three-in-three weekend this coming Thursday at Laredo, then return home for games Friday (vs. Corpus Christi) and Saturday (vs. Arizona) at 7:35 p.m. The first 1000 fans on Saturday get Killer Bees baseball caps courtesy First National Bank.
