Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
Fort Worth - The Laredo Bucks scored three unanswered goals in the final two periods of play en route to a 4-1 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas on Friday night at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum.
Laredo defenseman Adam Rivet and Fort Worth center Cory Stillman (PP) traded goals in the first period play and the game was tied at one after twenty minutes. Fort Worth opened the second period with a flurry of scoring chances, but Bucks goaltender David Lemanowicz was able to keep the Brahmas at bay. Laredo went on top midway through the second period when left wing Steve Simoes scored his eleventh goal of the season on an odd-man Bucks rush. Then, with just 52 seconds left in the second period, the Bucks extended their lead to 3-1 when right wing Brent Cullaton saw his centering pass go off the leg of Fort Worth defenseman and into the Brahmas net.
The Southern Conference leading Bucks (31-11-3) capped off their fourth straight win and their ninth victory in their last ten games with a third period goal from winger Ladislav Kouba to set the final score at 4-1.
Lemanowicz earned the win in net for the Bucks, stopping 17 of the 18 Fort Worth shots he faced. Larry Sterling took the loss for the Brahmas, allowing the four Bucks goals on 36 shots. Fort Worth is now winless in their last five games played.
The Brahmas (13-26-6) will try to get back on the winning track on Saturday night, Feb. 11, when they host the Corpus Christi Rayz at 7:30 p.m. at the WRMC. Saturday night's game will be puck night, as the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a free Brahmas puck courtesy of AirCheck Texas. Immediately following Saturday's game, the Brahmas will auction off the retro Fort Worth Wings jerseys they will be wearing. There will also be a postgame party at the Bronx Zoo (7th and Carroll) following the Brahmas/Rayz game. For additional information, please contact the Brahmas team office at (817) 336-4423.
