Laredo Bucks News Release

BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana - The Laredo Bucks fell 3-2 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday night in front of 7,652 fans at the CenturyTel Center. The Bucks four game win streak came to an end as Mudbugs forward Scott Sheppard potted the game winner in the third period. Laredo is 31-12-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 67 points. The Bucks are home on Tuesday, Valentine's Day, against the Corpus Christi Rayz. Face off set for 7 p.m. For more information on 2005-06 Bucks single game or season tickets call the Bucks office at (956) 718-BUCKS (2825) or log onto www.laredobucks.com.

The Bucks came out and scored first thanks to some help from the Mudbugs. Defenseman Adam Davis fired a shot that was stopped, but then kicked into the net by a Mudbugs forward at 4:57. It was the second goal of the season for Davis. Just over two and a half minutes later it was forward Brent Cullaton cutting down the right side into the Bossier zone then stepping to the slot and snapping home a wrist shot low stick side for his 13th of the year at 7:29. Up 2-0 the Bucks then looked to really take control of the game as they went on the power play, but the Mudbugs were able to answer. Forward Brett Smith capped off a two-on-on rush by tipping in a pass from forward Chris Brassard for a shorthanded tally at 13:23.

The Mudbugs tied the game in the second period on a power play. Brassard teed up a shot from the left point that was redirected into the net by forward Blair Manning at 10:50. The Mudbugs had a later power play chance in the period looking for the lead, but Bucks goalie Dov Grumet-Morris robbed forward Dan Wildfong on a rebound try and the game stayed tied after two periods.

In the third period the Mudbugs started on a power play and Grumet-Morris made another tremendous save, this time with the blocker on Sheppard to keep the game tied. Just over five minutes in though Sheppard uncorked a wrist shot that beat Grumet-Morris high glove side to give the Mudbugs the lead 3-2. The Mudbugs then closed the door down the stretch defensively to seal the win. FINAL SCORE Bossier-Shreveport 3, Laredo 2.

Grumet-Morris played well allowing just three goals on 38 shots and making numerous big saves, but took the tough luck loss to fall to 11-4-1. Ken Carroll stopped 25 of 27 shots and got the win to improve to 16-7-4. The Bucks were 0-3 on the power play, while Bossier-Shreveport went 1-4. The Mudbugs out shot the Bucks 38-27.
