Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Kyle Kramp to their roster for the 2011 season. Originally from Westfield, Indiana, Kramp is currently a redshirt freshman at Butler University.
Kramp started in two games for Bulldogs in 2010 before suffering an elbow injury, forcing him to medically redshirt for the season. While playing at Westfield High School, Kyle was named the 2009 Indiana Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year and earned All-State and All-Conference honors. The 6'3", 200-pounder went 10-2 his senior year, holding a 1.79 ERA, 101 strikeouts, and tying the school record of throwing two no-hitters.
"Kyle is a young gun who will be easing back into action after an arm injury in 2010," said Bucks Coach Jared Krasselt. "We expect Kramp will be able to come from the pen and shut teams down in the late innings. A draft pick of the Giants, he is going to bring some much needed energy and pizzazz to a solid bullpen."
Kramp was a 45th round pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. Born December 23, 1990, Kramp originally signed with Waterloo before the 2010 season, before his arm injury occurred. Kyle is the son of Dave and Lisa Kramp.
The Bucks will open the 2011 season on the road at the Battle Creek Bombers on June 1. Waterloo's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 at 6:35 pm versus the Eau Claire Express. Season tickets and single-game tickets are currently on sale. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
