WICHITA, Kan. - Wranglers right-handed pitcher, Billy Buckner has been named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week from July 7 to July 13.
Buckner pitched in 2 games during the week going 2-0. He pitched 7 innings in a win against the San Antonio Missions on August 7. He allowed 2 hits, struck out 5 batters, walked 3 and didn't allow a run. On August 12, Buckner beat the Corpus Christi Hooks. He went 6 innings, allowing 6 hits, 1 ER, struck out 4 and walked 2.
Alex Gordon was named Texas League Player of the Month for July. Gordon also won the League's Player of the Week award from July 24 to July 30. Gordon's stats for July: .355 (39-110), 9 home runs, 31 RBI, 17 BB, 10 Doubles and 4 Stolen Bases.
Mitch Maier has won Texas League Player of the Week award twice in 2006.
