Aaron Palushaj's power play goal in the second period was the game winning goal in Des Moines' 5-2 win over the Lancers Saturday night, November 26th, at the Mid America Center before 2,894 fans. The Buccaneers won their second of the series against the Lancers, who have now lost two straight games in their current home stand.

Kyle Okposo opened the scoring for Des Moines with a goal in the first period at the 16:46 mark for a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes. The Buccaneers would improve the margin to 2-0 in the second period with a goal from Tom Gerken at 1:58.

That's when the Lancers started their comeback that resulted in tying the game 2-2 mid-way through the period. Mark Olver notched his second goal of the year at the 4:57 mark on an assist from Christopher Meyers and Ryan Turek. Then, Chris Hepp scored his first goal of the year, unassisted on 10:46 for a 2-2 tie.

However, the Buccaneers then got the power play goal from Palushaj that gave them a 3-2 lead after two periods.

In the third period, Richard Purslow scored at the 12:47 mark for a 4-2 lead, and Okposo sealed the deal with three seconds left with an empty net goal for the final score of 5-2.

For the contest, Lancer goalie Mike Spillane stopped 31 shots on goal in taking the loss, while Des Moines netminder Brian Foster earned the victory with his 35 save performance. The Lancers out shot the Buccaneers by a 37-36 margin, but were 0-for-9 on the power play, while stopping 5-of-6 Des Moines power play opportunities.

The Lancers next play at home Friday, December 2nd against Indiana, then play Saturday, December 3rd at Cedar Rapids and Sunday, December 4th at Des Moines.
