
Bryan Acosta Called up to Honduran Men's National Team in September

PORTLAND, Ore. - Timbers midfielder Bryan Acosta was called into the Honduran Men's National Team for the FIFA international period in September, the National Autonomous Federation of Football of Honduras announced.
Acosta will join Honduras to play in two Concacaf Nations League matches against Jamaica (Sept. 8) and Grenada (Sept. 12). The 29-year-old midfielder will join the senior team in Miami, Florida, on Sept. 4 after the Timbers' away match against Seattle Sounders FC on Sept. 2, and will miss Portland's home match against LAFC on Sept. 9. Acosta recently made his Timbers debut on Aug. 26 against Houston, logging a full 90-minute performance.
Acosta has made 62 appearances for the Honduras Men's National Team. Most recently, he made all three appearances in the group stage of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup against Mexico (June 25), Qatar (June 29) and Haiti (July 2). Acosta has featured in 13 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, 15 Concacaf Gold Cup and Nations League matches and Copa Centroamericana. He received his first senior call up on February 26, 2014, and went on to make his debut on March 6, 2014. Additionally, Acosta played for the Honduras U-20 and U-23 teams, featuring in the 2016 U-23 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, captaining the team through all six matches played, including the bronze medal match against Nigeria.
