
Bruins win, take over third place

The Providence Bruins and Manchester Monarchs played the sixth game of their 10-game season series on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, with the Bruins taking a hard-fought 2-1 decision. The Black and Gold completed a stretch of five straight home games, winning four. Providence is 7-3-0-0 in its last 10 games, and wrapped up the month of February with a record of 8-3-1-0. The Bruins have moved past the Worcester IceCats into sole possession of third place in the Atlantic Division with their 30-20-3-6 record (69 points).
Bruin center Brad Boyes scored his 26th goal of the season, his fourth goal in the last three games. Boyes is tied for eighth in AHL scoring with 26-33-59 totals in 60 games, and is tied for the AHL lead with eight game-winning goals.
Center Keith Aucoin tallied his 17th goal of the season, and also had an assist. He ranks third on the team with 17-34-51 totals in 53 games. Aucoin has points (8-14-22) in 14 of his last 16 games.
Goaltender Chris Madden, making his third start with the Bruins, made 33 saves for the win. Madden is 3-0-0 with a 0.67 GAA and .976 save percentage.
The Bruins hit the road for their next three games, beginning on Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m., when they take on the Lowell Lock Monsters.
The Bruins return home to host the Portland Pirates on Friday, March 11 at 7:05 p.m., and the Albany River Rats on Sunday, March 13 at 4:05 p.m.
