Bruins win in shootout

The Providence Bruins and Springfield Falcons played the ninth game of their 10-game season series on Saturday night in Springfield, with the Bruins taking a 2-1 decision in a shootout. Providence is now 6-1-1-0 in its last eight games. The Bruins are now tied with the Worcester IceCats for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with their 26-18-3-6 record (61 points).

Bruin defenseman Kevin Dallman tallied his sixth goal of the year at 14:17 of the second period.

Providence goaltender Hannu Toivonen (20-14-3) had his franchise record shutout streak end at 237:27, when Springfield winger Nikita Alexeev tied the game at 13:04 of the third period.

Bruin center Brad Boyes scored the game-winning goal in the shootout, as he tallied his team's second goal of the extra session. Patrice Bergeron also scored in the shootout.

Providence center Patrice Bergeron (Canada) and left wing Andy Hilbert (PlanetUSA) will head to Manchester, New Hampshire on Sunday for the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. The Skills Competition will be televised on delay on Sunday at 8:45 p.m. on Fox Sports New England. The All-Star Game will be televised live on Monday on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m.

The Bruins return home on Friday, February 18 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Albany River Rats. They also host the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, February 20 at 4:05 p.m.
