Bruins Fall to the Penguins in Double Overtime

Providence, R.I. - The Providence Bruins were defeated by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in double overtime by a final score of 5-4 tonight in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semi-final series. Seth Griffith, Joe Morrow, Blake Parlett, and Alexander Khokhlachev scored for the P-Bruins. Niklas Svedberg made 38 saves.
Scoring Summary: The scoring did not open until the 7:14 mark of the second period. The Penguins' Chuck Kobasew notched his fifth goal of the playoffs to give his team the 1-0 lead. The P-Bruins answered at the 15:16 mark when Griffith scored his third of the playoffs on the power play. The assists went to Ryan Spooner and David Warsofsky. The P-Bruins earned the 2-1 lead at the 18:36 mark when Morrow received his second goal of the playoffs with the assists going to Parlett and Craig Cunningham. Just 0:15 into the third period, Parlett scored his second goal of the post-season to give the home team the 3-1 lead with Spooner getting the assist. The P-Bruins continued to dominate offensively when Khokhlachev scored his fifth goal of the playoffs at the 1:06 mark. Mike Moore was given the assist. The Penguins scored three unanswered goals to tie the game at 4. Tom Kostopoulos scored his third goal of the this year's playoffs at the 7:37 mark on the power play with the assists going to Anton Zlobin and Brendan Mikkelson. Then, Simon Despres scored his first goal of the playoffs at the 12:10 mark; assists were awarded to Harry Zolnierczyk and Conor Sheary. Sheary scored for his second of the playoffs at the 14:09 mark with the assist given to Brian Dumolin. The teams were forced into overtime tied with 4 goals each.
After a scoreless first overtime period, the Penguins scored in the second overtime period at the 6:32 mark for the 5-4 winner. Simon Despres scored his second goal of the night with the assists awarded to teammates Mikkelson and Sheary. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton now leads the series, 2-1.
