Bruins drop heartbreaker in Springfield

The Providence Bruins concluded their weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon in Springfield, dropping a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to the Falcons with seven seconds remaining in regulation. The Bruins are now 4-4-2-0 on the season (10 points), putting them in a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Division.

Bruin right wing Pat Leahy scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season, his second of which tied the game at 2-2 with 44 seconds remaining in the third period. Center Ted Donato, playing in his second game with the P-Bruins, notched an assist. Defenseman Peter Metcalf, recalled earlier in the day from the Trenton Titans (ECHL), assisted on both goals.

Goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 29 shots in taking the loss. He is 3-2-0 on the season.

The Bruins return home to host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday, November 7 and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, November 8. Both games get underway at 7:05 p.m.
