MANCHESTER, NH - Right wing Scott Barney's two goals and goaltender Adam Hauser's 29 saves propelled the Manchester Monarchs to their third straight win, a 5-0 triumph over the Norfolk Admirals, before a Verizon Wireless Arena crowd of 7,094 on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Monarchs evened their record on the season at 5-5-0-1. The win also allowed the Monarchs to gain a share of second place in the Atlantic Division with 11 points. The Admirals, now winless in their last five, dropped to 4-7-1-1 with the loss.

Barney notched his third goal of the weekend on the power play 1:14 into the opening stanza to give the Monarchs the lead. Left wing Noah Clarke and defenseman Bryan Muir shared assists on Barney's second game-winner in as many games. Barney, who had a pair of goals in the Monarchs 5-3 win over the Lowell Lock Monsters on Saturday, scored the goal shortly after Norfolk defenseman Anton Babchuk was sent to the penalty box for elbowing.

Hauser protected the Monarchs lead with 14 saves in the opening 20 minutes. His counterpart on the other end of the ice, former NHL'er Steve Passmore, finished the opening period with nine saves.

Hauser repelled another eight shots in the middle period, allowing the Monarchs to stretch their lead to three as Muir and Barney collected their fifth goals of the season. Muir, the top-scoring defenseman in the AHL with 12 points (5-7=12) through 11 games, made it 2-0 with his blue line blast 2:02 into the period. Barney followed with his fourth goal in two games by scoring on the power play at 17:27. Steve Kelly (1-2=3) assisted on Muir's goal, one of three points on the night for the veteran centerman. Right wing Pavel Rosa (0-3=3) and center Yanick Lehoux collected assists on Barney's second of the game.

The Monarch connected two more times in the third period as rookie defenseman Denis Grebeshkov and Kelly scored at 5:35 and 12:13 respectively. Grebeshkov collected his first AHL goal thanks to Kelly, who slipped the puck between the legs of a Norfolk defenseman, allowing Grebeshkov to poke it into the net from just outside the crease. Rosa earned an assist on both markers. Clarke (0-2=2) also assisted on Kelly's third of the season. The Monarchs were on the power play when Kelly scored.

The Monarchs finished with three power play goals on six attempts. Norfolk failed to convert any of their five power play opportunities.

The Monarchs return to action on Friday, November 7 when they travel to Worcester to face the IceCats at 7:05 p.m.

The Monarchs next home game is slated for Saturday, November 8 against the Portland Pirates. The Monarchs are also scheduled to host the Albany River Rats at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday, November 9 at 4:05 p.m.

The first 5,000 fans in attendance at Saturday's game will receive a free Monarchs T-shirt, courtesy of Crowley Foods. The first 3,000 kids 12 and under at Sunday's game will receive a free Monarchs youth practice jersey, sponsored by Jiffy Lube.
