JOLIET, IL - Kyle Brueggemann was dominant from start to finish, tossing a complete game shutout in a 6-0 Aviators win over the Joliet Slammers.

Brueggemann had a perfect game through two and a third innings before Adam Lewis hit a single into center field to break up the perfecto, but Brueggemann cruised through the rest of the game. He finished the night pitching a complete game and didn't allow a runner past second base while striking out seven batters and allowing only five hits.

This was Brueggemann's best performance for the Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, since his July 6 game against the Southern Illinois Miners where he pitched eight scoreless innings and struck out six.

The Aviators cranked out three straight hits to open up the game that was capped off by a two-RBI single by Tanner Witt to give the Aviators a 2-0 lead after the first.

In the top of the sixth inning, Elijah Trail recorded his first professional RBI with a single to center field that scored Edgar Corcino from third to give the Aviators a 3-0 lead.

With two outs in the seventh, Corcino hit a double that scored Dusty Robinson and then Kalaika Kahoohalahala ripped a two-RBI single to left that allowed Kenny Bryant and Corcino to both score, making it 6-0 Aviators.

After recording a one-pitch out to start off the ninth, Brueggemann gave up a hit to Adrian English, but retired the next two batters as he sealed the complete game victory.

The Aviators avoided losing their fifth straight with the win tonight. They will be back in action tomorrow night against the Slammers in the second game of a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.

Fans will be able to listen to the game on the Meridix Network. The link to the broadcast can be found online at www.rockfordaviators.com.
