Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate DE Jonathan Brown for being named CFL Lineman of the Week.

The second-year veteran had a break-out game in the Argonauts' 48-0 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday afternoon. Brown's three quarterback sacks were the second highest single game total of his career and contributed to Toronto's first shutout victory in 26 years. His constant pressure on QB Danny McManus prevented Hamilton's offence from finding their spark and strengthened Toronto's position at the top of the East Division. This is the second time in his career that Brown has earned CFL Linemen of the Week (2004).

Player of the Week Judge Ellison Kelly saw Brown's determination: "He set the tone with an early first quarter sack and never let up. His strong middle pressure was the main reason Danny McManus was unable to get into any kind of offensive rhythm."

DB Kenny Wheaton also earned 1st Runner-Up as the CFL Defensive Player of the Week. Wheaton recorded 6 tackles and an interception in the contest.

The 2004 Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 15 Grey Cup championships to their credit. For individual game tickets, please call (416) 872-5000. Full roster details are available at www.argonauts.ca.
