
Brouillette, Nightingale Rejoin Checkers

CHARLOTTE, NC-Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that defensemen Julien Brouillette and Jared Nightingale have rejoined the team from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
Brouillette, 23, was loaned to Hartford in late February and led all Checkers defensemen with 33 points (13g, 20a) at the time of his call-up. He has played in 24 AHL games with Providence and Hartford this season, registering one goal and four assists.
The native of St. Esprit, Quebec is in his second season with the Checkers. In 2008-09, he led all Charlotte defensemen in scoring with 29 points (11g, 18a).
Nightingale, 27, began the season in Charlotte and was called up to Hartford on Nov. 29. He was named team captain and appeared in 16 games with the Checkers collecting one goal, five assists and 52 penalty minutes. The 27-year-old Michigan native then played in 51 games with Hartford notching three goals, six assists and adding 156 penalty minutes.
Nightingale also played in 49 games with Hartford last season where he collected two goals, five assists and 121 minutes in penalties.

Notes: Charlotte is 10-1 in its last 11 home games...Aaron Slattengren leads the Checkers with six assists in four games...Charlotte clinched its first division title and #1 conference seed in franchise history heading into the playoffs...the Checkers had the four largest crowds in the ECHL this season... Ryan Munce led the ECHL in save percentage (.913), was third in wins (26) and was named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for March...Andrew Carroll led the Checkers this season with 30 goals, including six game winners.
