Series History:
The Condors forced a decisive Game 5 against the Victoria Salmon Kings with a 5-2 triumph in Game 4 last night. LW Kyle Calder (1g-2a) and C MacGregor Sharp (2g-1a) both had three-point nights, while G J.P. Levasseur made 32 saves for his first career playoff victory. The Condors fell behind 1-0 in the game, but in each of the last three contests the team that scored first has lost. All four games of the series have featured an empty net goal as well. The Condors are 5-2 all-time in Game 5 matchups, their best record of any game in a series in team history. The Condors won their only previous series-deciding home game, a Game 7 contest against Long Beach in 2005-06, while this is the first sudden death playoff game in Salmon Kings history.
Condors misc:
LW Kyle Calder tied for 6th in the league in points (5g-2a) and tied for 1st in goals. He has had a hand in seven of the team's last 10 goals in the series... C MacGregor Sharp is tied for 4th among ECHL rookies with five points (2g-3a)... F Mark Voakes is one of only two rookies with a shorthanded goal this postseason... G Timo Pielmeier is 2nd in the ECHL with a 2.01 GAA and 3rd with a .927 save percentage... The defensive pairing of Evan Stoflet and Eric Regan are a combined +11 in the playoffs... Bakersfield has had a league-low nine power plays in the four games. Only two teams had less power plays than the Condors during the regular season.
Salmon Kings misc:
The Salmon Kings playoff roster includes over 1,200 games of experience at the American Hockey League level, including Calgary-contracted G Matt Keetley, who has started all four games of this playoff series. Keetley has appeared in at least 23 AHL games in each of the last three seasons, posting a 2.59 GAA and .912 save percentage for Abbotsford in 2009-10... LW Chad Painchaud is tied for the league lead with five goals this postseason. Painchaud had 10 points (2g-8a) in seven playoff games for the Condors last season... RW Wes Goldie leads Victoria and is tied for 10th in the ECHL with six points (3g-3a)... RW Eric Walsky is tied for 4th in rookie scoring with five points (1g-4a).
