Goaltender Bryan Pitton Back From Springfield

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced the Oilers have reassigned goaltender Bryan Pitton to the Thunder from Springfield.

Pitton, 22, returns to the Thunder for the first time since being recalled on Feb. 1 and left the ECHL at the time by ranking second in the league with a .921 save percentage. He won eight of his last 12 ECHL games to finish 9-9-3 in the regular season with a 2.85 GAA and one shutout - a 34-save effort in a 1-0 shootout loss to Victoria (stopped 14 of 16 shooters) on Jan. 30.

Selected in the fifth round (133rd overall) by Edmonton in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Oilers, Pitton has twice been named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week this season and earned a recall to the NHL for the third time this season on Jan. 8.

He suited up for the Oilers on Jan. 2 at San Jose and backed up goaltender Jeff-Drouin Deslauriers, but did not play.

The Mississauga, Ontario native played for Stockton as a rookie in 2008-09 and was 9-19-3 with a goals-against average of 3.39 and a save percentage of .886 in 34 games.

Pitton, who was 2-6-0 in eight AHL games with Springfield this year, played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League where he was 64-46-6 with four shutouts, a goals-against average of 3.22 and a save percentage of .894 in 124 games for Brampton from 2005-08.

Bryan joins his brother, Jason, on the Thunder playoff roster, marking the first time in Thunder history that three sets of brothers are on the roster:

Pitton joins goaltender Andrew Perugini on the Thunder playoff roster. Additionally, Bryce Christianson was released as emergency backup goaltender.

Kelly Cup Playoff tickets start as low as $9 per seat and range to $28 (Comcast Club). Current Thunder season ticket holders receive tickets to the first two rounds of the Kelly Cup Playoffs in their ticket package. Fans wishing to get priority seating on playoff tickets can do so by placing a deposit on new Thunder season tickets for the 2010-11 season.

The Thunder has advanced to the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs (National Conference Semifinal round) for the second consecutive season. Times and dates of the upcoming second round will be announced Tuesday.

A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew 223,854 fans to Stockton Arena in 2008-09.
