Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON, MA - (June 3, 2009) - OF Keith Brachold homered and drove in four runs as the Rox pummeled the American Defenders of New Hampshire 15-6 on Wednesday night in Brockton. Two of Brachold's RBIs came on a single in the sixth inning which gave the Rox a 9-5 lead in the midst of a nine-run inning. LHP Fraser Robinson earned his first win in a Rox uniform, pitching three innings of scoreless relief.

Brockton started out on shaky ground when RHP John Kelly surrendered five runs in the first two innings, capped by a three-run double from New Hampshire RF Angel Molina in the second. However the Rox had scored two runs of their own in the first inning, and cut a 5-2 deficit to 5-3 on an RBI groundout by RF Jud Thigpen in the third.

After Robinson had settled the New Hampshire offense in the middle innings, the Rox offense chased LHP Mark Romanczuk after five innings, and immediately went to work on the Defenders' bullpen. The first four Rox hitters in the sixth inning reached base against RHP JR McAllister, and eventually Brockton sent 14 men to the plate in the inning. LF Napoleon Calzado and Brachold each drove in two runs during the nine run, nine hit inning.

RHP John Tesseyman worked three scoreless innings in relief and recorded a save. The Rox swept an opponent in just the second series of the season, a feat which took the club until its final series in 2008 to accomplish.

On Thursday, Brockton will head to Little Falls, NJ to take on the New Jersey Jackals beginning at 7:05 PM. RHP Stevie Delabar (0-1, 5.40 ERA) is scheduled to face RHP Ted Serro (0-1, 5.40 ERA) of the Jackals.
