Brockton Rox News Release
Brockton, MA - The Can-Am League's best offense was in top form on Saturday night in Nashua, NH, as the Brockton Rox scored 13 runs on 18 hits en route to a blowout victory over the Nashua Pride.
Ten different players crossed home plate for the Rox who did all the damage in the first six innings of the game. 1B Francisco Lebron started the scoring with a 2-run single in the first inning. Two innings later, 2B Melvin Falu extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a two-run single of his own. Falu also singled in the fifth inning, and he has multiple hits in eight of the first ten games for Brockton. Leading 4-0 in the fourth inning, the Rox added two runs on a single from 3B Phillip Cuadrado and a double-play groundout by Lebron.
In the fifth inning, Brockton scored four times on five hits to put the game essentially out of reach for Nashua. To finish the Brockton scoring, CF Ervin Alcantara drove in two with a two-run double in the sixth, and immediately thereafter, SS Dominic Ramos capped the night with an RBI single.
The Rox benefitted from LHP Chris McDonough's solid start, in which he did not allow a run through the first 5 2/3 innings. With two outs and the bases empty in the sixth, McDonough could not get the final out and had to be relieved after surrendering six consecutive hits and five runs. He struck out four and walked two to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Rox and Pride will finish the four-game series on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM when Brockton LHP Rolando Viera (0-0, 4.91 ERA) will make his third attempt to tie the Rox franchise mark for career victories. He will face Nashua RHP Bucky Kosyk (0-1, 6.00 ERA).
