Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - Daniel Brito hit a walk-off three-run triple to give the BlueClaws a 5-4 win over Hagerstown on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park.
Down 4-2 going into the bottom of the ninth, Gregori Rivero, Raul Rivas, and Jesus Alastre all singled to load the bases with one out for Brito, who delivered the sixth walk-off win of the season for Lakewood.
The BlueClaws (18-22/58-52) have now won three games in a row and pulled to within four games of first place. Hagerstown fell to 21-17/59-48.
The Suns took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning after an RBI double by Paul Panaccione off reliever Jonathan Hennigan . Panaccione drove in Nick Banks, who was hit by a pitch leading off the inning.
In the bottom of the eighth, the BlueClaws had runners at first and third with two outs but Austin Listi flew out to center to end the threat.
The Suns added a run in the ninth on a two out RBI double by Tres Barrera .
Hennigan (1-3) gave up two runs in two inning but earned the win.
After Hagerstown got two early unearned runs off Mauricio Llovera, the BlueClaws got on the board in the third inning on an RBI double from Arquimedes Gamboa . Gamboa moved to third on a groundout by Mickey Moniak and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two.
BlueClaws starter Mauricio Llovera went seven innings and gave up two unearned runs. It was Llovera's longest outing in six starts since moving into the starting rotation on June 27th. The 21 year old right-hander has allowed just six runs in 31 innings as a starting pitcher this year.
Hagerstown starter Brigham Hill did not factor in the decision after allowing two runs in five innings. Brito, Gamboa, and Rivero all had two hits for Lakewood.
The series with Hagerstown continues on Friday night at 7:05 pm. LHP Bailey Falter (5-6) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Weston Davis (2-3)
