
Brian Keller Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week

The Thunder, in conjunction with the Eastern League of Professional Baseball, are pleased to announce that RHP Brian Keller has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 29.
Keller, a 39th round selection of the New York Yankees out of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, went 2-0 this week with a 0.77 ERA. Keller earned wins over the Hartford Yard Goats and Portland Sea Dogs and combined to strike out 15 batters over his two outings. Tuesday night against Hartford, Keller scattered seven hits over 5.2 scoreless innings pitched and struck out six to help the Thunder earn a key 1-0 win. Sunday evening saw Keller set a season-high with nine strikeouts over six innings in a 4-1 win over Portland.
A member of the Opening Day roster for the Thunder, Keller has gone 8-7 with a 3.62 ERA in 17 appearances, 16 starts for the Yankees Double-A affiliate. The Germantown, Wisconsin native leads the team in starts (16), innings pitched (98.0) and strikeouts (88).
Keller becomes the third Thunder player to earn the Eastern League's weekly honor following RHP Michael King and INF Abiatal Avelino; who swept the honors for the week ending July 2.
