Brian Jordan to Rehab for RoughRiders
April 20, 2004 - Texas League (TL1)
Frisco RoughRiders News Release
Frisco, TX- In Frisco, baseball fans at Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark are accustomed to seeing up-and-coming stars. Players in their twenties desperately wanting to make it to the big league team as soon as possible normally populate the field. Sometimes fans will get a bonus if a major league player visits a minor league team while working their way back from injury. In Frisco, today is one of those days.
Tuesday, April 20 at Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark, Brian Jordan will make his first appearance during the regular season for the Texas Rangers organization. Jordan, a career National Leaguer, was signed in the off season to play outfield in Arlington, but a lingering knee injury has kept him on the disabled list and out of the Rangers lineup. The All-Star outfielder has spent his previous seasons in the outfield with the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers. Jordan also spent time as a Pro Bowl safety with the Atlanta Falcons from 1989-1991, starting in the same defensive backfield with Deion Sanders.
Tonight, Jordan will appear in his first minor league game since a rehab assignment for the St. Louis organization almost seven years ago. With no sign of how long it will take Jordan to get back to full-strength, Tuesday night's game could be the only Frisco action for the veteran. Frisco will take on the Tulsa Drillers for two more games before the Wichita Wranglers come to town on Thursday for a four game set.
