Round Rock Express News Release
All good things must come to an end the Round Rock Express found out Tuesday night.
After a magical ten-game winning streak that saw them win in every way imaginable, Adriano Rosario and the El Paso Diablos finally broke through with a 5-2 win in front of 8,906 at The Dell Diamond.
The winning streak matches a club high, set in 2001.
After getting shelled in his first start against Round Rock, Rosario (1-2) was masterful over 7.1 innings. Against the best hitting team in the Texas League, the 18-year old Rosario allowed only a pair of third inning runs while striking out eight.
Express starter Ezequiel Astacio (2-1) matched him for most of the game, allowing only two runs through six innings. El Paso finally got to him for three runs in the seventh on doubled by Sergio Santos and Danny Richar to take the lead and win the game.
Willy Taveras continued his personal hot streak with a 2 for 4 night and a RBI single.
Despite the loss, Round Rock still sits comfortably in first place with a 10-3 record. El Paso improves to 4-9.
The finale of the four-game series will be Wednesday afternoon at a special 12:05 p.m. start.
