Brewer to be Inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame

PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame (BCHHOF) named six inductees into its class of 2020 on Monday and Eric Brewer is one of four individuals going into the Hall of Fame.

Brewer played three seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Prince George Cougars, before embarking on a 16-year career in the National Hockey League (NHL). Brewer is an owner and chairman of EDGEPRo Sports & Entertainment.

Brewer, who was born in Vernon and played his minor hockey in Ashcroft and Kamloops, was drafted by the Cougars in the 1994 WHL Bantam Draft. He played in Prince George from 1995 to 1998. Brewer compiled 79 points in 168 career regular season games in the WHL. The blueliner was drafted by the New York Islanders fifth overall in the 1997 NHL Draft.

Brewer amassed 271 points (77-194-271) in 1009 career regular season games in the NHL with the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs. The rear guard was the captain of the Blues in three of his four seasons in St. Louis.

Brewer also had a decorated international career, as he played for Canada at the 1998 World Junior Hockey Championship, the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, and five World Hockey Championships. He won an Olympic gold medal, three World Hockey Championships and the World Cup of Hockey.

Joining Brewer in the BCHHOF 2020 class is former Canucks defenceman Mattias Ohlund, NHL Linesman Jay Sharrers, and Junior 'B' hockey president Ray Stonehouse. Two teams are being inducted as well, the 2002 Kootenay ICE Memorial Cup champions and the 2012 Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League.
