Brett Thompson Traded to Sarnia

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League have announced that center Brett Thompson has been traded to the Sarnia Sting in exchange for a third round pick in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection and second round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. The announcement was made by Otters general manager Sherry Bassin.

Thompson leaves the Otters after collecting 24 goals and 21 assists in 36 regular season games for Erie. Among the highlights in his brief Otters career included a six-point night against the Windsor Spitfires on February 5 and scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals against Windsor on April 3.

Originally acquired from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in exchange for David Broll and three draft picks on January 10, Thompson has played 258 career games in the OHL for Erie, Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, accumulating 192 points.

Pucks and Paws Night returns to Tullio Arena Saturday, November 5 when the Otters host the London Knights. Fans who bring in dog/cat food, treats or toys will receive a ticket to the Otters game for November 11. Tickets for the game can be purchased at The A.N.N.A. Shelter (1555 East 10th Street) for $10.00 with proceeds from the sales going to The A.N.N.A. Shelter. The Otters will also wear A.N.N.A. Shelter-themed jerseys.
