Toledo, OH - The Toledo Mud Hens beat the Richmond Braves 4-1 Saturday at Fifth Third Field. One night after pounding 18 hits the Braves were held to four and their six game winning streak ended.
The Mud Hens took a 1-0 lead in the first on a bases-loaded walk to Brent Clevlen. Toledo fattened their lead to 3-0 in the second on an RBI double by Dane Sardinha and a sacrifice fly by Andres Torres. Chris Shelton smacked a home run in the fifth to give the Hens a 4-0 advantage. The Braves scored their run in the sixth on an RBI single by Brandon Jones.
Yorman Bazardo pitched a complete game to earn the win. He did not allow an earned run and struck out four. Kyle Davies took the loss. Shelton and Torres each had two hits for the Mud Hens.
The Braves face Toledo again at Fifth Third Field Sunday at 6:30. Lance Cormier will pitch for Richmond against Virgil Vasquez. The Braves return home Wednesday for a 6 PM doubleheader vs. Indianapolis.
