
Braves Roll Past Tides

Richmond, VA- The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 8-4 Sunday at The Diamond. Barbaro Canizares knocked in four runs to lead the Braves past the Tides for the second straight day.
The Tides took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Brandon Fahey. Richmond tied the game in the home half when Scott Thorman scored on a wild pitch. The Braves erupted for three more runs in the third to move in front to stay. Diory Hernandez drove in a run with a single and Canizares chased two home with a single to give Richmond a 4-1 lead. The Tides trimmed the Braves lead to one in the fifth on a two-run double by Chris Roberson. The Braves answered with two runs in the home half on an RBI double by Brandon Jones and a sacrifice fly by Canizares. The Tides cut the Braves lead to 6-4 in the seventh on an RBI ground out by Eider Torres. Richmond responded with single runs in the seventh and eighth. Canizares knocked in a run with a single in the seventh. Sal Fasano cashed in a Joe Borchard lead-off double with an RBI ground out in the eighth.
Charlie Morton earned the win. Jon Leicester took the loss. Canizares, Jones, Hernandez, and Josh Anderson had two hits each for the Braves. Tyke Redman had three hits for the Tides.
The Braves are off Monday. They are back in action Tuesday at Norfolk at 7:15 PM. Francisley Bueno is slated to pitch for Richmond against Radhames Liz.
