Louisville, KY- Jolbert Cabrera's two-out three-run triple in the sixth inning was the deciding factor as the Louisville Bats defeated the Indianapolis Indians Sunday afternoon in front of 9,663 fans and troops on Military Appreciation Day. The win completed a 7-3 homestand for the Bats.

Both team's offenses were held scoreless through the first five innings, but in the bottom of the sixth the Bats broke through. Off of Indians reliever Brian Rogers, the Bats struck for four runs. The inning started off when Michael Griffin reached on a fielding error by Indians third baseman Neil Walker. With two outs in the inning, Drew T. Anderson laced a single to center scoring Griffin. Jay Bruce added a single and Andy Phillips was hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Cabrera. Cabrera ripped a double into the right field corner clearing the bases and giving the Bats a 4-0 lead. All four runs were unearned off of Rogers (0-1, 1.38), who took the loss for the Indians.

The Indians offense showed signs of life in the seventh when they were finally able to get to Bats starter Matt Maloney (5-2 4.91). Andrew McCutchen started the inning off with single to left field and Steve Pearce followed with a double, putting runners at second and third with no outs. After an RBI groundout by Craig Wilson, Neil Walker added another run to the Indians total with an RBI double of his own. This would spell the end of the game for Maloney as he left pitching 6.1 innings, giving up five hits, and two earned runs. He walked one and struck out four.

The Indians were able to scratch one more run across the board in the top of the eighth to pull within a run but Jay Bruce answered with his team leading tenth home run in the bottom half of the frame, giving the Bats insurance and a 5-3 victory. Jon Adkins came in to pitch a flawless ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.

The Bats hit the road for 10 games starting Tuesday with a game at Indianapolis. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. with LHP Adam Pettyjohn (4-0 4.71) scheduled to start for the Bats against Indians RHP Bryan Bullington (1-6 6.95). The Bats next return home on May 30 against Lehigh Valley.
