Braves Outlast Generals In 16 Innings Sunday

JACKSON, TENN. (APRIL 15, 2012) - Ian Gac homered against Generals infielder Eric Campbell in the top of the 16th inning Sunday night at Pringles Park, giving the M-Braves a 4-3 win. The series opener lasted 5 hours, 3 minutes and 13 pitchers were used, including two position players. The third straight loss dropped the Generals to 7-4 on the season, but still one game ahead of Tennessee in the North division standings.

Campbell took the loss, allowing just one run in three relief innings, the first of his career. Jackson relievers Brian Moran, Stephen Pryor, Bobby LaFromboise and Carter Capps combined to toss eight innings of shutout baseball on one hit. Starter Andrew Carraway was lifted after five innings, giving up three runs on 10 hits, striking out three and walking two. Mississippi utility player Barrett Kleinknecht earned the win.

Daniel Carroll led the Generals with a 4-for-7 night at the plate with a game tying RBI in the sixth inning. Joe Dunigan was 3-for-7 with a double, triple and run scored. Gabriel Noriega finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Braves scored a pair of runs in the top of the first on RBI doubles from Phil Gosselin and Ian Gac. They made the score 3-0 in the sixth on another RBi double from Gac.

The Generals tied the game in the bottom of the sixth behind RBI singles from Jesus Sucre, Gabriel Noriega and Daniel Carroll.

The Generals continue their five-game series with the Mississippi Braves at Pringles Park on Monday, with first pitch set for 7:05 CT. LHP James Paxton makes the start for the Generals against RHP Zeke Spruill for Mississippi.
