
Braves Drop another Game to the Riverdogs

Rome, GA -The Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Rome Braves 14-6 in front of 4,245 fans at State Mutual Stadium Saturday night. The win extended Charleston's lead in the SAL Southern Division.
Charleston took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Mitch Abeita. Rome answered with four of their own in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-1. The inning was highlighted by an RBI double by Chris Shehan, a two RBI double by Chais Fuller, and an RBI triple by Jahdiel Santamaria. The RiverDogs cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth on an RBI single by David Adams, but Rome added two runs in the bottom of the inning to make it a 6-2 game on a two RBI single by Jesus Sucre. In the sixth, Charleston added another run on a solo homerun by Abeita closing the gap to 6-3.
Charleston took the lead 10-6 in the seventh with a big seven run inning. The inning was highlighted by a three RBI triple by Corban Joseph, a Melky Mesa two run homer, and RBI singles by Abeita and Adams. In the eighth, Charleston added four insurance runs for the 14-6 final coming on RBI singles by Taylor Grote, Jose Pirela, and Dan Brewer, and a wild pitch that scored Abeita from third. Charleston had 21 hits in the game.
Daniel Kapala (4-0) gets the win for Charleston, while David Francis (3-3) was the loser for Rome.
