
Braves blast Clippers

Columbus, OH - The Richmond Braves beat the Columbus Clippers 8-4 Friday at Cooper Stadium. The Braves erupted for seven runs in the second inning to salvage a win from the four game series and end a three game losing streak.
In the second Carl Loadenthal started the scoring with an RBI single. Wes Timmons doubled a run home. Brent Lillibridge chased three runs home with a bases-loaded double. Jason Perry capped the rally with a two-run home run. The Clippers got on the scoreboard in the fourth on a home run by Elijah Dukes. Richmond tacked on a run in the fifth on a Corky Miller homer. The Clippers responded with three runs in the home half. Leonard Davis doubled two home and scored on a Luis Jimenez single.
Michael Nix picked up the win. Tyler Clippard took the loss. Miller had four hits for the Braves. Josh Anderson's hitting streak ended at 27 games. Richmond pounded out 14 hits.
