Oshawa Generals News Release
Oshawa, ON - The Oshawa Generals announced today that forward, Brandon Saigeon, has signed a one-year American Hockey League contract with the Colorado Eagles, the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
Drafted in the first round, fourth overall in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, Saigeon is coming off his overage season where he spent the majority of his OHL career with the Hamilton Bulldogs and joined the Generals at the trade deadline in January. After joining the Generals, he notably stood out as a leader on the team and was awarded the assistant captain title not long into his Generals tenure. A draft selection of the Colorado Avalanche, he was chosen by the team in the fifth round, 140th overall at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
Saigeon finished on top of the leaderboard in points for the Generals for the 2018-2019 season with 92, a personal best. This season he was over a point per game player and saw increases in his point totals across the board. He finishes 6th in Generals over age scoring (calculated from '89-90 season onward) and finishes 12th in Ontario Hockey League scoring for the 18/19 season. Besides leading the Generals in scoring for the regular season, he continued that into playoffs again finishing as the team's top point producer. He was awarded the team's Top Scorer award at the annual awards ceremony.
Before signing with the Eagles, he previously attended the Colorado Avalanche development and main camp in 2018 along with most recently the team's development camp in July 2019.
