Calgary, Alberta -- The dates have been confirmed for the best of seven Western Hockey League Eastern Conference quarterfinal series between the Brandon Wheat Kings and Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The series will begin this weekend with games Friday and Saturday nights in Lethbridge, with the series then shifting to Brandon's Westman Communications Group Place for games three, four and five (if necessary) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, March 25th, 26th and 28th. Game times are 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 7:30 for game five on Friday night.

Game six and seven would then be played in Lethbridge. Game six (if necessary) is scheduled for Sunday, March 30th, with the seventh and deciding game (if necessary) set for Monday, March 31st.

Tickets to games three and four of the 'Canes-Wheat Kings' opening round playoff series are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order by phone at 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca

The Wheat Kings, who finished second in the WHL's Eastern Division this season with a 42-24-3-3 record will be making their fifteenth post-season appearance in the past sixteen years while Lethbridge is back after a one year absence from the playoffs.

The Hurricanes finished with the second best record in the Conference at 45-21-2-4, good for 96 points.

Brandon hasn't played the Hurricanes in the playoffs since the 1997-98 campaign when the Wheat Kings swept the 'Canes in four straight games in round one. Brandon went on to lose to Marian Hossa and the Portland Winter Hawks in the Championship Final.

The Wheat Kings were led that year by Cory Cyrenne, Stefan Cherneski, Burke Henry and Greg Phillips while Shane Willis and Mark Smith of the 'Canes finished in the top ten in scoring that year.

Other Eastern Conference quarterfinal series will see Regina taking on Swift Current, Calgary facing Moose Jaw and Kootenay up against the defending WHL Champion Medicine Hat Tigers.
