Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - As temperatures were dropping in Youngstown, Ohio, tempers were heating up in the third game in four nights at the Chevrolet Center as Youngstown beat Texas 5-2 Saturday evening.
The weather outside was no match to the rough play inside during the first period. Four roughing penalties were called, including Brahmas enforcer Robin Big Snake and forward Anders Strome. The SteelHounds became shorthanded due to a game misconduct from forward Adam Smyth, but it did not seem to affect them early on as Peter Pohl scored a shorthanded goal unassisted on Brahmas starter David Cacciola.
Texas remained on the powerplay as Grant Jacobsen fed a pass to Jordan Cameron for his tenth goal of the season. Steelhounds goalie Brad Roberts and Cacciola faced 10 shots in the first.
The intermission was not effective in calming tempers as six roughing and two fighting major penalties were assessed. The penalties caused special teams to have to work for results, and Youngstown's efforts paid off when Kevin Jarman scored a powerplay goal at the 7:13 mark putting the Hounds up 2-1.
Thirty-five seconds later Brahmas forward Anders Strome quieted the Hounds fans with a goal of his own from Tyler Skworchinski, to even the game 2-2. Mark Odut scored one last goal for the SteelHounds in the second period.
The third period was not as lucky as it was the night before as Texas was unable to come back from behind losing the game 5-2. Peter Pohl and Jason Baird were able to beat Cacciola in the final period.
Texas registered only 3 shots in the third period and was outshot 29-19 for the night. Texas will play the Mississippi RiverKings on the road on Friday and Saturday. The Brahmas will return home December 28 to face Odessa for a 7:05 PM start at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
