Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 1) - The Texas Brahmas, formerly known as the Fort Worth Brahmas, will return to Fort Worth tomorrow for the inaugural Fort Worth Faceoff.
The Brahmas will play two home games, Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3 at 7:30pm against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
"We are very excited about this unique opportunity," said Brahmas majority owner Stuart Fraser. "Our goal is to bring tremendous crowds downtown which will be great for our season ticket holders, our sponsors and sports fans in general."
The Brahmas began playing in Fort Worth in 1997 as a part of the Western Professional Hockey League, before transferring to the Central Hockey League for the 2001-02 season. The team then left Fort Worth in 2006 and re-established the franchise in North Richland Hills before the 2007-08 season, changing its name to the Texas Brahmas and playing its games at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
After each game at the Convention Center, the Brahmas will hold an on-site, live jersey auction, offering fans the opportunity to bid on the limited edition sweaters worn by the team that night. The team will wear Fort Worth Texans jerseys on Friday night and specialty Fort Worth Brahmas sweaters on Saturday.
The Brahmas will have two special ceremonial puck drops, including Red Kane, an original Fort Worth Ranger, on Friday night. On Saturday night, Fort Worth City Councilman Joel Burns and North Richland Hills Mayor Oscar Trevino will share the honors.
The Brahmas are also running two exciting promotions over the weekend. Friday, March 2 is Cap Night, at which the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Brahmas cap. Saturday, March 3 is Star Wars Night, when members of the Star Garrison 501st Legion will be in attendance to greet fans and take photos.
BRAHMAS ALUMNI GAME DEBUTS
In addition to Friday and Saturday night's games, the team is hosting a Brahmas Alumni Game at the Convention Center on Saturday, March 3 at 4:00pm. A squad made up of former Brahmas greats will face off against the Fort Worth Fire and Police in an altered version of the classic guns and hoses matchup. Tickets for the Alumni Game are $5 and are on sale at the Fort Worth Convention Center box office.
